It is worth reminding members of the Parish of the ways that we can contact Police when there are incidents which may require their assistance or advice. There is naturally dialling 999 for emergencies, 101 for non urgent enquiries or making use of the Avon and Somerset police website which invites you to complete a sometimes unwieldy online form.

Up to 30th June our local Police Community Support Officer was Nathan Chard. He has now been replaced by a Colleague Jeremy Pidgeon. He and a Constable Colleague are currently (and hopefully temporarily) are the only members of the Sector Team whose very large area stretches from Axbridge and Cheddar to our Village and others nearby.

PCSO 8561 Pidgeon’s contact details are;

Mobile:  07563 466199

Office:   01278 649606

Email:     Jeremy.pidgeon@avonandsomerset.police.uk

It should be noted, that amazingly, there is no requirement for Officers like PCSO Pidgeon to join Facebook groups such as “Mark Village Life.” Therefore, he and his colleague will not pick up the sort of entries on the Facebook groups which relate to the sort of annoying behaviour by some which lead to allegations of Theft from farms and gardens or anti social behaviour. A lot of what is stated on the Facebook pages are never formally reported to police by the above means of communication and as a result we, in Mark Parish, may not receive the attention we deserve.

The role of a Community Support Officer (Constable or PCSO) is such that it is vital they know what is occurring in the large area they are based in and can only occasionally patrol.

It’s suggested that if you are aware of something which requires the attention of police that does not meet the criteria of an urgent or non urgent call or completing the online form, that you contact PCSO Pidgeon by the above contact details.
