MARK COMMUNITY LAND TRUST
Newsletter No: 2 – August 2015
Since the first article in the June edition of the Parish Magazine, Mark CLT Ltd has been incorporated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Steering Group has appointed its existing members to form the Mark CLT Board pro tem.
The Steering Group has held a number of meetings covering such matters as Affordable Housing including possible sites, grants, and the setting up of policies and procedures, which will need to be approved by the Board, for the running of the CLT. The current position on Affordable Housing is that talks have been held with the Landowners/Agents of three possible sites for twelve affordable houses. These will consist of 4 x 1 bedroom houses, 4 x 2 bedroom houses, 2 x 3 bedroom houses and 2 x 2 bedroom bungalows. The final site selection will be announced at its public meeting in September. The date for which is to be announced later.
The CLT have a table booked at the next Flea Market to be held on Saturday 5th September, 2015 in Mark Village Hall, this will give people the opportunity to ask questions about the role of the CLT, how it is run and possible future objectives but more importantly, (in my view) you can fill out an application form to join your Community Land Trust which will enable you to have your say in such local matters. However, you do not have to wait until then to join as attached are further details on membership, together with an application form which you can complete, detach and send to our registered address as shown thereon. All members of the family can join provided they are over 16 years of age. However, a separate application will need to be completed by each person joining. The minimum cost to become a member will be £1.00 (one share) but we would like you to buy more, so we can raise funds to cover annual fees and the administration costs of running the company. I must make it clear that whether you have one or one hundred shares you will only be entitled to one vote at any of the Special or Annual General Meetings.
As I know you care about Mark Village and its future whether it be Affordable Housing , our shops and pubs or perhaps even considering new ventures such as opening a combined library and cafe, then do become a member.
Please help by ‘spreading the word’ particularly to those who do not see the Parish Mag. We will also endeavour to deliver to each house in Mark a further membership application form (more if you wish) during the month of August.
