The Council asks that you attend this meeting to show the Planning Inspectorate the strength of Mark parishioner’s objection to National Grid’s proposals as demonstrated at earlier public meetings.

Recently, a massive amount of work has been undertaken by Councillor Eileen Corkish in interpreting recently-issued volumes of technical documents, about 60 in total of which National Grid submitted after the deadline date set by PINs.

The Council’s response remains:

Following extensive consultations with residents in the Parish during the four year period since National Grid first published their Hinkley Point C Connection Project proposals for a new 400kv overhead transmission line to be erected across the village of Mark; it is the considered view of the Council that the overwhelming public opinion in the village of Mark is opposed to the installation of an overhead 400kv transmission line.

The consensus view is that the proposed Hinkley Point C connection to Seabank, Avonmouth, should be subsea under the Bristol Channel or underground along a redefined route.
