A ceremony was held on Friday 18th March when the Rev. Chris Judson blessed our willow tree, which the Parish Council have planted to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee.  The ceremony was held on the same day as the Village Litter Pick, and several members of National Grid were with us to bless the tree.  There is also a new seat on the Green commemorating the Jubilee.

Parishioners may not be aware that Jubilee Green is called that as the trees were planted in 1935 to commemorate King George V's Silver Jubilee - now another tree joins them celebrating a different Jubilee!

The Rev. Chris's Blessing on the Willow Tree

Loving God

Thank you for Queen Elizabeth – our Queen

Thank you for her faithful service – to you, to our country, to us all

....over the past 70 years!

May this tree be a blessing to everyone who sees it.....

inspiring us, like Elizabeth, to strive to be the best that we can be

....serving our communities and seeking the common good.

May this tree bring joy to all....and a sense of belonging.

We pray for every member of our community here in Mark – young, old and everything in between.

-whatever their needs this day, may they know that they are loved

and precious....to you and to us all.

We pray especially for our schools and pre-schools.....for those who journey to Mark for schooling – especially those at Mark College, and for our children who journey further afield for school and college.

Help us to be a caring village, where all can grow in body, mind and spirit and become the best that they can be.

Almighty God, the fountain of all goodness,
bless our Sovereign Lady, Queen Elizabeth,
and all who are in authority under her;
that they may order all things
      in wisdom and equity, righteousness and peace,
to the honour and glory of your name
and the good of all people;

Bless this tree......in the name of God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit....

Amen.
