REVISED LETTER FROM WESSEX WATER REGARDING THE CLOSURE OF MARK CAUSEWAY
Ref: C9253 – Mark flood alleviation works
Dear Resident
After further consultation with the residents of Poplar Lane on Tuesday 8 September, we have reviewed our scheme and made some changes.
We have now changed the road closure times to 9.00am to 4.00pm to allow more vehicles to leave Poplar Lane in the morning, however this will lengthen the duration of the closure by approximately one week. We will be monitoring the early start to assess how many vehicles are taking advantage of the 9.00am start, and if this does not prove worthwhile, we will adjust our start time accordingly. We would like to reiterate that whilst we will do our best to maintain vehicular access to Poplar Lane outside of the working day, however the space restrictions and nature of the work may prevent this.
We appreciate that not everyone will be able to plan their movements all of the time, so where possible, we will try to accommodate residents to gain vehicular access to properties. However, this is not a guarantee that you will be able to get your vehicle to your property all of the time and will slow the progress of construction, resulting in a longer closure period.
The safety of parking on Mark Causeway was a key concern, so we have delayed our work to coincide with the road closure of Mark Causeway. This will prevent through traffic past the parked vehicles and greatly reduce the risk of damage to vehicles. Our start date is now planned for 16 November 2015 and the work will last approximately seven weeks, however we will reconfirm this closer to the date.
We have made enquiries to the Chestnuts regarding additional off-road parking or the provision of a through road, but as this is a live construction site, we are unable to secure this option due to health and safety risks to the public.
We will endeavour to complete the works as quickly as possible. If you have any special requirements or concerns please feel free to pop over to the site office on Wednesday 16 September between 4:00pm and 5:30pm where myself and the site manager will be available to answer any questions you may have. Alternatively speak to one of the site team and we will do our best to accommodate you.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused during this essential work.
If you require any more information please call 0345 600 4 600 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm).
Many thanks
