From Mark Parish Council
October 2024
Play Area by Village Hall:
Following observations from some Parishioner's , the Council has been asked to look at the type and quality of equipment
available for use by young children who use the play area by the Village Hall. It should be stressed that the current equipment meets the stringent requirements laid down by Statue and Somerset
Council policies.
We are looking for ideas about ways that we can look to the future in changing some of the pieces of equipment or making the
experience better for our younger generation. We would welcome suggestions. However, it should be noted that such changes of equipment can involve considerable expense and it may not be
possible to make substantial replacement of items all in one go but would need to be phased in over a period of years.
Community Noticeboards
You will be aware that the Parish Council have recently replaced the Noticeboards by the Village Stores and on the wall of
the Old Dairy on The Causeway with specially designed cabinets. These are required to ensure that we can show important notices which we are required as a Council to display.
We are aware that there is a wish from some of our Community groups and organisations to advertise their events or services
and we are looking at ways to assist them. It has been suggested that the old Noticeboards could be renovated and be made available to display such matters. However, there is a need to ensure that
such community Noticeboards are sited in an appropriate location and we would welcome suggestions from the Parish.
Remembrance Commemoration.
It’s a trifle early but the Parish Council would like to remind everyone of the sacrifice made by members of the Parish
during both of the World Wars where we lost 12 very brave individuals in the First World War and 4 in the Second World War. By the same token, we tend to brush over the fact that many fought in those
Wars and subsequent conflicts in Korea, Northern Ireland, the Falklands and other conflicts and having returned home, their contribution and those of their loved ones did not necessarily attract the
same level of support or recognition so many years later.
We salute them all.

Chair.
